Getting photos

When I bumped into Doug Cooper last week he comented to me ‘writing is easy, getting enough good photos is the hard bit’. I’m thinking that Doug has pinpointed perhaps the biggest challenge. However in order to solve that challenge, I’ve got to get out and do a lot of paddling and the weather gods are blessing the Northwest Highlands with a  favourable forecast this weekend. There’s then also the small matter of taking decent and creative photos.

The photo in this post is of me trying to get extremely close to Ardnamurchan point. The photographer was my wife to be - Catriona. She is the unofficial ‘proof reader’ of the draft chapters I’m churning out. Catriona along with a few friends and the team at Pesda are already helping me in various ways with the guidebook. Whilst it may well be my name that will go on the book’s cover but there will many people who will have contributed to it’s final state, indirectly and directly. I will be eternally grateful to those people.

I'm currently writing a sea kayaking guidebook for the Northwest Highlands; Cape Wrath to Ardnamurchan Point including Skye & the Small Isles. This blog will keep you updated as to my progress and hopefully the blog and in turn the book will inspire you experience the Northwest Highlands by sea kayak yourself.
