That is that it tries to keep the subject as simple as possible and concentrates on what kayakers need to know. The new edition is most obviously different in the improved illustrations and use of colour. I have also made numerous small improvements in the way things are explained. Some new topics are introduced as I have had to revise my ideas on what kayakers need to know. Exercises designed to check the reader's understanding have also been added to the end of each chapter.
