Karen, Andy and I explored Gairloch one windy day in April last year. On our return to the harbour the MV Hebridean Princess had docked at the main pier. The MV Hebridean Princess is an ex-Caledonian Macbrayne ferry which was converted into a luxury cruise ship and now plys the West Coast of Highlands and Hebrides.
Her Majesty the Queen, hired the MV Hebridean Princess in 2006 to take her on a cruise of the West Coast of Scotland as the Royal Yacht Britannia had retired from service a couple of years prior.
Rumour locally on the West Coast was that whilst the Queen was onboard the MV Hebridean Princess, the Royal Navy had a submarine, a frigate and squads of SBS troopers guarding her.

Did the Queen use this door on the side of the MV Hebridean Princess?
The ultimate destination of the Queen’s West Coast cruise on the Royal yacht used to be the Castle of Mey in Caithness.
