The Jamaica Boat

MV Harvest Caroline

You may see this boat when you’re paddling around on the West Coast of Scotland. It’s registered home port is Kingstown, Jamaica. However it doesn’t commute across the Atlantic Ocean like ‘The Jamaica Bolt’ but is based out of the old oil rig fabrication yard at Kishorn, Applecross.

The MV Harvest Caroline now chugs around fish farms on West Coast of Scotland delivering fish farm feed pellets. Not a glamourous role but if Marks and Spencer’s want their ‘Scottish Salmon’…

Heading off out of Loch Sunart

Beware as this boat is very big (compared to sea kayaks) and gets into to some pretty small bays and doesn’t have much room to manouvre.

I'm currently writing a sea kayaking guidebook for the Northwest Highlands; Cape Wrath to Ardnamurchan Point including Skye & the Small Isles. This blog will keep you updated as to my progress and hopefully the blog and in turn the book will inspire you experience the Northwest Highlands by sea kayak yourself.
