There’s no mistaking that noise of rain tipping down onto your tent flysheet when your half asleep and tucked safely in your warm sleeping bag. Thoughts of being get wet, packing away wet kit suddenly flood your mind as does a great relcutance to emerge from your sleeping bag. Yor body and mind so no or maybe in a wee while.

However the time will come you have to face it and emerge out of warm and cosy sleeping bag and peel on damp clothing and kit from yesterday knowing you may well be damp and wet for the next 6 - 8 hours.

Sea kayaking isn’t all about sandy beaches, bright sunshine and glamour!

He’s offering a sea kayaker shuttle service which makes the logistics and sheer hassle of doing a long shuttle before and after a trip. We used him on our Ardnamurchan trip and it saved us 2 hours of driving between Glenuig and Laga.

We almost made a a circumnavigation of the Ardnamurchan peninsuala during a trip, a long portage or run or cycle would have completed the trip. The ‘point’ for some reason didn’t feel like such a big mental climax as major headlands often feel like as the throughout the whole two days were stimulated by the wildlife, coastline and environment. Or was it that having done Cape Wrath earlier in the season, that made Ardnamurchan Point feel compartively easy in comparison?

I have been working away quietly and steadily on the guidebook however my blogging here has become rather occasional which I must apologise about. I will endeavour to be more regular in my updates.

So an attempt to circumnavigate the ‘Misty Isle’ with friends was thwarted. My annual leave is finite and was booked months ago. I’m slightly annoyed with the weather gods tonight. Perhaps the weather gods are telling me to spend a few days at my computer tapping out a few more chapters.
